"Luna 7 Probe Launch"

This is an alternate Earth; a fantasy world where people drive to remote rocket bases in the desert and watch launches routinely. Instead of the moon on the late afternoon horizon, we see Saturn low and in the distance. Even the car is a fantasy. But of course, the owner's loyal dog is always real :) 18x24 oil on hardboard masonite. AVAILABLE (contact)

This is my friend's "Arctic Tern." It's a famous Cessna 140 that was once owned by by Harmon "Bud" Helmericks back in the early 1950's in Alaska. Helmericks is the writer of some great books about his adventures flying in Alaska in the 50's and 60's, most notably "Last of the Bush Pilots," and '"Flight of the Arctic Tern," where he mentions this airplane. The Cessna 140, "Arctic Tern," is a real piece of Alaska flying history. 18x24 oil on canvas. SOLD
