"A Cub for Christmas"
Limited Edition Print

My holiday oil painting for 2021 is from imagination. The Piper Cub in the painting is a J-3 that I flew for several years, and where I cut my teeth on tailwheel flying. The N-number (N38834) is that actual Cub. The "stars and bars" on the side was used on allied aircraft in WW II through 1947. I included this as a tribute to another aviation artist, Nixon Gallaway, who used this very emblem in a Christmas painting he did many years ago. It was one of the images that inspired me to paint. Mr Gallaway passed away in 2003, and this is my nod to him.
The cabin depicted is sort of a dream of mine (and for many pilots); A cozy, isolated cabin, deep in the snow, where Christmas is enjoyed with loved ones in a beautiful, serene mountain setting.
