This painting was inspired by a photograph of the beautiful and amazing DeHavilland Beaver. This is an iconic aircraft that has been flying in the backcountry since the 1950's. Built like a tank, it's radial engine powers it through poor weather and treacherous mountains, and it can land just about anywhere. This image depicts a Beaver from famed Kenmore Air in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. In this scene, a Beaver is departing for the San Juan Islands on a late summer evening. The original painting was done with oil paints on stretched canvas.
