This was a fun painting that I made for a pilot friend who is an engineer and also interested in backcountry flying. He owns the same type of airplane as I do; a Cessna 120 from the 1940's. One of the things he generously does is to take beginners (inexperienced desert pilots) out to various spots in the Mojave Desert and Death Valley. The things one sees in the desert are unmatched. This patricular trip was out to Trona Pinnacles, which is near Death Valley. It features these otherworldly geological formations. We flew out there in our 120's. This is his, and he really is a flying Desert Tour Guide.
