12x24 oil on canvas. Painted from imagination after having explored the Western Desert in my Cessna 120. I love the deserts of the American Southwest. They are dotted with all kinds of secret installations, abandoned military bases, and relics of all kinds from a golden time. This scene depicts a DC-3 sitting at one of many forgotten and deserted airfields near Mojave and Death Valley. The water tank is the classic military design, slowly returning to the dust in the brutal desert sun. This painting received an award at the Orange County Fair in 2021.
