"Sighting at Gas Haven"

I love the deserts of the American southwest. Oddly, there are more reported UFO sightings there than almost anywhere else in the world. The theories range from aliens visiting secret military bases, to extraterrestrial monitoring of our nuclear capabilities, and secret UFO bases. In any case, lots of UFOs roam the deserts.

This scene is a combination of things from my imagination, and from my visits to the desert in my little Cessna 120 (the one in the painting). This is a little, forgotten stretch of road; perfect for landing a small plane and grabbing a cold soda before venturing on.

B-movie fans will recognize that my roadside sign is based on the one from 2006's "The Hills Have Eyes." This stretch of road is based on dozens like it in and around Death Valley, and the airplane is mine. Off in the distance, an unidentified flying object makes it's way into the sky.
